Reading Together Programme

Hi all,

Don't forget that tomorrow is the first day of the reading together programme.
It starts at 2pm and runs until 3pm. It will take place in the oval room in the main office block.

Class Update

Hi everyone,

We have been very busy these past few weeks settling into school life. We have been working hard learning class routines and getting to know one another.

Here are some photos showing what we have been getting up to...

                                        We made posters showing some of our favourite things.

We put our names in tens frames, counted how many letters were in our names and drew a picture of something starting with that letter.

                         

We had to colour our numbers and order them from 1-10 or 1-20.

We identified different shapes and used them to help us make pictures of rockets, houses and tractors.

We learnt some new games and started working on our small balls skills with Mr Robinson.

Welcome to Room 3!

Kia ora, My name is Sian Barratt and I am the classroom teacher for room 3 this year.

We have been very busy making new friends, settling into school and learning the class routines. I look forward to getting to know you over the next few weeks.

Diwali fun

In room 3 we have been having a great time lately learning about different festivals and celebrations. One festival we learnt about was Diwali. We had a Diwali dress up day at school where we got to wear traditional clothing. We also drew diyas using pastel and dye, made clay diyas and created beautiful rangoli patterns. Calendar Art

We have been working very hard in room 3 these past few weeks creating our Calendar Art. We based our designs on Kandinsky's circle art. We had to paint our background two colours, we chose lot's of beautiful bright colours which look AMAZING! Then we traced around different sized circular objects (to represent leaves), cut them out and stuck them on so that we had 3 or 4 colours per circle. Next we traced around our hand and cut that out which became the trunk of our tree. A form has been sent home which you can fill out to get your child's art presented as a calendar, diary, cards or mouse pad. Here are some photos of our art. We hope you like it!!

MOTAT Trip

On Friday the Kea Team went to Motat as part of our topic exploring technology and toys in the past. We got to explore different exhibitions, visit an old school house, learn about and play with old toys and ride on the tram! We had so much fun. Here are some photos of what we got up to.....
